Welcome to Armonk

With a youthful spirit, this vibrant hamlet is surrounded by nature and offers some of the most peaceful views in Westchester County

With just over 4,800 residents living within 6.1 square miles, Armonk is a charming village of rolling hills and natural landscapes just 45 minutes outside of Manhattan. Surrounded by nature, the active neighborhood of Armonk is a hamlet of the Town of North Castle and boasts stunning views in a highly walkable community. It’s a small town with a big town vibe. Main Street offers an eclectic mix of “mom-and-pop” shops and restaurants and the corporate headquarters of IBM and Swiss Re are located within the town’s limits. A perfect blend of small-town charm and big businesses, Armonk is an ideal destination to call home for families, commuters, and young professionals.

Originally called Mile Square and home to the Siwanoy Indigenous tribe, Armonk has experienced immense growth over the last few centuries. In 1990, Armonk saw a tremendous growth of residences and businesses with new condos, townhouses, and single-family homes sprouting up all over town. Homes in the established Windmill Farms and Whippoorwill areas and, the more recently developed, Thomas Wright Estates and Sands Mill put Armonk on the map as being one of the most desired places to live in Westchester County. With an ever-growing real estate market and more people looking for homes in new neighborhoods, Armonk affords a vibrant community with luxury amenities and recently renovated homes.

Dining, Entertainment, and Shopping

For classic and creative Italian food, Fortina Restaurant combines rustic, wood-fired meals with a seasonal twist in a contemporary dining space. Award-winning with accolades spanning culinary institutions like The Food Network, delish, and The New York Times, Fortina Restaurant serves lunch, brunch, and dinner and features the famous “Polenta Table,” a culinary experience like no other. Homemade polenta is poured directly onto the table and loaded with toppings for a unique, and messy, gastronomical event. And, their pizza is delicious too.

Step into Tuscany at Zero Otto Nove Restaurant, an upscale Italian grotto serving classic dishes bursting with fresh flavors. From pizza to homemade pasta, Zero Otto Nove has it all and does it well — using only locally sourced, organic ingredients, each meal is crafted with care and presented with class. Enjoy their famous braised short ribs in Peroni beer sauce and don’t forget to stay for dessert!

Hickory & Tweed has been the quintessential neighborhood business since 1961. A bicycle and ski shop, the folks at Hickory and Tweed are deserving of their #1 Ski Shop in America title. With decades of experience and unparalleled knowledge, visiting Hickory and Tweed is an entire experience. Learn from the best and purchase the best at this exciting and passionate shop in the heart of Armonk. The “Tweed” is by far the favorite store in town by locals and residents of neighboring towns. Even people from the City come to shop and/or rent ski and snowboarding equipment at the Tweed.

Things to Do

With three baseball fields, four tennis courts, two basketball courts, and a playground, the beautiful John A. Lombardi Park is located on Cox Avenue and is one of the best spots in town. It’s two blocks from Wampus Brook Park and pond, which hosts various community events throughout the year and features idyllic green spaces separated by the Wampus River. Centrally located, both parks are ideal destinations for family excursions, local sporting events, and relaxation.

By far the most beloved event of the year, the Frosty Days festival is a neighborhood-wide party and parade celebrating the winter season and Armonk’s historic roots to the original Frosty the Snowman song. The historic district of Armonk was the inspiration for the “village square” in the original “Frosty the Snowman” song written by Steve Nelson, a long-time resident of Armonk. With events scheduled throughout the day and a parade in the evening, Frosty Days includes the entire Armonk community and concludes with a holiday lighting ceremony at Wampus Brook Park.
